Timeline of Records: James Robinson, born 1787 Kentucky

James Robinson was born in 1787 Kentucky (confirmed in 1850 census). Many researchers name his wife as Elizabeth McClure, but that is not proven. He is sometimes shown as a son of James Robinson (1769 - 1854), but proof is lacking. The obvious question - Why would he be born in Kentucky when his supposed father was still living in Ireland? The identified children of James Robinson are - Samuel, Permelia Jane, Richard McClure, Martha A, and James L Robinson. This James Robinson family appears in the census of Washington county Missouri (Harmony twp) in 1830, 1840, 1850, 1860 and beyond. Robinson and McClure families live in close proximity in Augusta county Virginia in the mid 1700s. It makes sense that this James Robinson is related in some way to my John Robinson (1769 - 1851). Now I need to understand how. Pam Garrett, 2016.

In this database, see the question posed - What is the relationship between these five Robinson men?

note - Some researchers name the wife of James Robinson as Elizabeth Calloway.

[pam garrett's comment] There is considerable confusion over two Elizabeth Robinson's who are buried in Bellevue Presbyterian Cemetery in Washington county Missouri. "Widow" Elizabeth Robinson, "mother of James Robinson" appears on several lists for Bellvue Cemetery. The record usually includes no dates. But recently, at FindAGrave, the dates 1797-1863 have been associated with "Widow Elizabeth Robinson". I do not know the source of the dates. These pieces, put together, suggest this could be Elizabeth Robinson, wife of James Robinson, who was born in 1787.

James Robinson married Elizabeth McClure; 25 January 1817, Ross county Ohio.
[pam garrett's comment] I have spent some considerable time looking at Robinson and McClure in Ross county Ohio. I don't feel confident that this is the same couple who is in Washington county Missouri. But, it remains a possibility.
