Obituary of Elsie Paulus Sharbrough


Elsie Paulus Sharbrough, 76, of McAlester, died Monday, Dec. 26, 2011, in McAlester. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at All Saints' Episcopal Church with the Rev. Bill Ellington presiding. Internment will be Friday at 3 p.m. in Rose Hill Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel in Oklahoma City. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Brumley-Mills Funeral Home of McAlester.

Sharbrough was born June 2, 1935, in Oklahoma City. She was the daughter of David Dare and Elsie Pearl (Buckley) Paulus. She was raised in Oklahoma City and graduated from Cassidy High School. After high school, she continued her education at the University of Oklahoma in Norman were she earned her bachelor's degree in 1956. She was married to DeVan Sharbrough Jr. In 1960, she came to McAlester from California. She was a longtime member of All Saints' Episcopal Church and retired from The Bank N. A. of McAlester.

She is survived by son DeVan Sharbrough III, of Kansas City; daughter, Christy Sharbrough Fuller and partner, Harry Leipold, of Hartsel, Co.; brother, Dr. David Paulus and wife, Ann, of Houston, Texas; nieces, Carrie Paulus Valone, Katherine Neff Wilson, Kimberly Neff Hogue, Michele Arnette, Nicole Arnette Lang and their families; Bill Fuller and children with many family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, aunts and uncles.
