Fredrick Koll Hancock was born 13 Oct 1911 and died 10 April 1977. He was born and reared on the old Hancock farm south of Weatherby, attended the Pleasant Valley School and was a member of the East Union Chapel Methodist Church. He was a lover of horses and delighted in all farm work. Working horses and mules to horse drawn equipment were his specialty. "Freddie" was drill master of the DeKalb County Riders Saddle Club for several years and under his leadership the Saddle Club received many prizes and awards of ribbons. In 1970 the Adams Township Centennial was celebrated and an attractive parade under his leadership was enjoyed by a large crowd of spectators.
