    • John Allison was probably born between 1735-1740 in Pennsylvania, son of John Allison and Hannah McClure. As a young boy he moved with his family to Augusta county Virginia. He might be the same John Allison who married Isabella McClure, and removed to Kentucky. He migrated westward with other family members, living for some years in Washington county North Carolina (later Tennessee), and finally arriving in Woodford county Kentucky not long before his death in 1791.

      1769, 24 July; Augusta County Virginia Will Book 4, page 223; Robert (mark) Allison's will; To son James, has received his part; to daughter Mary Davison, has received her part; to son John, 10 shillings; to daughter Agness; to son Robert, infant, testator's home plantation; to son Francis, infant, 250 acres on Mill Creek; to son Halbert, received his part already; to wife Hannah; to daughter Janet. Teste: Alexander (mark) McClure, Arthur McClure, Joseph Walker, Joseph Walker, Jr. Proved, 15th August, 1769, by all except Joseph Walker, Jr. Hannah Allison qualifies, with Alex. and John McCluer.

      1770; At a court held for Botetourt County the 15th August, 1770. This day came the parties by their attornies, & thereupon came also a jury, towit: George Patterson, Josiah Huntsman, John Willson, John Wallace, Halbert Allison, John Allison, William Lawrence, William Curry, David Smith, Jonas Ervin, James Allison & James McKee. One of the jurors withdrawn by consent of the parties, jury discharged from rendering their verdict, and the plff. not further prosecuting, on the motion of the deft., it is ordered that this suit be discontinued, and that plff. pay to deft, his costs by him about this defendant in this behalf expended.

      1782; Marriage certificate was issued Feb. 9, 1782, to Isabella McClure and John Allison. Halbert McClure was listed as a witness, David McClure, Bondsman. Rockbridge county Virginia.

      1790, July; Kentucky Will Book A, page 1361 shows that "John Allison of Woodford County Kentucky appointed his friend James McCord of Washington Co. SC (N.C.) to make a deed for 191 acres in said county, adjoining the land of James McCord and Lee Taylor. " James McCord and Lee Taylor at that time held land in Washington County, North Carolina which shortly became part of The Southwest Territory and later a county in Tennessee. James McCord's brother David McCord had also moved to Kentucky in that year, 1790 from Washington County North Carolina (later Tennessee).
