  • Notes
    • Robert Allison was probably born about 1710 in Ireland. His parents have not been identified. At a young age he removed with other family members to America, and likely settled in Lancaster county Pennsylvania. About 1735 he was married to Hannah McClure (1719-1761), daughter of Halbert McClure. In the 1740s He removed with his brother, John Allison, to Orange (later Augusta) county Virginia. Some researchers claim a third brother, James Allison, who also moved with them to Virginia.

Robert Allison and Hannah McClure had eight identified children, between 1735 and 1760: Mary Allison, John Allison, James Allison, Halbert Allison, Francis Allison, Agnes Allison, Robert Allison, and Janet Allison.

Robert Allison purchased land on North Branch of James River in 1747 beside John Allison. The two men raised families on North Branch between Whistle Creek and Mill Creek in what is now Botetourt County just north of Lexington, Virginia.
