Notes |
- Question - Who are the parents of Houston Garrett? Most genealogies identify him as the son of William Garrett and Lydia Rumley. But, the 1850 census of Benton county Tennessee might suggest otherwise. Is he actually Houston Rumley? Is he an "illegitimate" child of Lydia Rumley, born to her about 1844, when she was only fourteen or fifteen years old? Later census records are consistent in giving a birth year around 1848 for Houston Garrett. Perhaps the 1850 census has been misinterpreted.
